Q: I need to take some time off work and do not have enough PTO to cover my absence. Can I take a leave of absence?
A: Yes, if your leave of absence does not qualify under FMLA you may request a personal leave of absence. A 30-day unpaid leave of absence is available in certain circumstances as described in Liviniti’s Leaves of Absence Policy.
Q: What Eligibility criteria do I need to meet to be considered for a personal leave of absence?
A: An unpaid personal leave of absence may be granted upon request to regular full-time and part-time employees for important pressing personal needs, at the discretion of the department manager and Human Resources. Unpaid personal leave may only commence once all other appropriate leave balances have been exhausted. For example, if a 30-day personal leave is approved, and the employee has a balance of 40 hours of PTO, those 40 hours will be utilized immediately and at the beginning of the 30-day personal leave. The remaining approved personal leave will be unpaid.
Q: How do I apply for a personal leave of absence?
A: Please complete the attached HR-300-011 Personal Leave of Absence Policy and submit the completed document to your supervisor and Human Resources for approval. If the request is approved or denied, you will be notified of the determination from Human Resources.
